  1. Could be 6 months could be shorter or longer... it's up to the Navy, I know how you feel my husband is in school for FC and I know he'll end up deployed on a ship

  2. i know how you feel. Mine just left on monday for seven months. I'm pretty torn up about it. But I cant wait until all this c**p is done and over with. If you ever need someone to talk to, please email me. salmilwm@yahoo.com

I would like someone to talk to as well... so dont be afraid to email

  3. Welcome to the military.  Your husband is now owned by the Navy.  Deployments for floats are about 7 months long.  Work ups prior to the floats start 6 months out.  Those vary in how long they are gone.  If they go to the big sandbox then it can be anywhere from 7 months to 14 months.  It all depends on where he is going and why.  Have fun.  :)

  4. It varies. Now they Navy tells him what to do, and there is nothing he can do about it. I've dated military men. I am currently dating a marine who left in Feb. came home on R&R last month and saw his 5 week old son, then had to leave again two weeks later he comes home anywhere between dec & march. its hard and its something you are going to have to deal with. if you need someone to talk to you to help you get through and and give you tips just contact me.

  5. If your husband is going to Boot, he is NOT a Quartermaster YET. He is an Applicant/ Poolee/ Recruit.

Q: how long will he be away

    A. Depends on the needs of the Naval Service. The Great Lakes, IL A School runs about 40 calendar days not including Reception and advanced placement testing.

Q:how often can he be deployed?

    A. USN QMs are stationed primarily aboard USN deploying ships, TAR QMs are stationed aboard Naval Reserve Force (NRF) ships that deploy or conduct local operations. SHORT answer: As often and as long as the needs of the Naval Service dictate.

    What are you upset about?

He's JUST getting started. You might hear horror stories but its never as bad as you are being told.

REALITY CHECK: If you can't handle his naval service, maybe you should put your foot down and tell him "NO, Sorry BABY, I ain't buying this goat".

You will make his LIFE miserable if you don't get a handle on this NOW.

My present (3rd) wife couldn't deal with me being in the military because of the deployments.

With my first 2 wives (not concurrently, I must say), I saw our unit divorce rate triple when our deployment rate more than doubled.

ON the other hand, our UNIT childbirth rate went up 125% during the same fluctuation in deployments.
