I am going on my 6th Depo Shot September 22nd. When I got my 5th one I stopped it for 5 months and I started my period a week ago and I am still on it. It's not heavy. I can't even use a tampon. Is it anything to be worried about because I stopped it for 5 months and then started again?

  1. You can gain weight, mood swings, spotting/irregular periods.

I gained 30 lbs on Depo.

There are MUCH better options to not have your period! I take Yaz birth control pills every day; never take the sugar pills.  So; I do not have my period.

  2. Please research this shot before getting your next dose.  Majority of women have some serious health issues because of this shot.

You could bleed for months, have a regular period, or not have a period at all on depo.

    Totally "normal".

  3. According to the Depo-Provera website, it can take up to a year for your hormone levels to be completely normal again.  So it follows that any changes the shot caused in your menstrual cycle can still be in effect after 5 months.  If you're having any unusual symptoms, however, and/or are really concerned, please see a doctor!

  4. I highly suggest you stop using the depot shot. I used it after i had my son and it stopped my period completely, gained alot of weight, and made me have wicked mood swings. My husband and I tried to get pregnant and because of the depo i had a hard time getting regular periods so it made it really hard. It took us 2 1/2yrs to get pregnant due to the shot...I got pregnant with my son before use of depo and i got pregnant real easy only 6 months of trying...so the depo can really mess you up don't use it or really research it before you use it...Good Luck!

  5. do not get the depot shot, it will make you fat and get you health problem trust me
