I have just started to get the depo contraceptive injection and have had my first injection 11 weeks ago. i came on my period today, and think i should get my second injection before the fourth day of my period arrives as i am due for my second injection in two weeks. i also foud on a website that the injection can be taken 11-13 weeks inbetween eachother, so should i get it now?

  1. When I was on Depo, I got the injection every 12 weeks, regardless of periods or spotting.  If I came back more than 12 weeks after the last shot for the next one, the doctor had me do a pregnancy test to make sure I wasn't pregnant (which I never was; that would require s*x) before doing the next abortion, due to legalities.

So I'd say get your next injection whenever your doctor/clinic told you to come back when you got your first one.

But, be careful with that stuff.  It is well-known to cause weight gain (on the order of 50 pounds) and less well-known to cause depression.

  2. i also used to get mine every 12 weeks but it stopped my periods altogether while i was on the depo, which was bliss but it proper messed them up  when i came off it. dont you get your appointments in advance?.while i was there getting the injection they used to give me my next appointment ,maybe you should ask if they do the same!!!
