Deportivo La Coruna’s fall, where would the stars go? – La Liga debate
Deportivo have fallen on harsh times since establishing themselves in the Spanish top division. Over the last twenty years, they finished in the top half of La Liga an impressive 16 times. The club won their one and only title in the 1999/00 season under
the tutelage of Javier Irureta. With a rich European history, the club managed to fill the roster with stars all around. With relegation to the Spanish Second division now being their destiny, a mass exodus is to be expected.
From Andres Guardado to Dani Aranzubia, the stars are on their way out of the 2004 UEFA Champions League semi-finalists. Guardado is among the most high-profile players to be linked out of Deportivo La Coruna, with Valencia high on the heels of the Mexican
winger.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 see Guardado as the answer to their left sided wobbles, and is high on the wish list of coach Unai Emery. The Valencia-based club have had a mixed adventure with French winger, Jeremy Mathieu, and are looking for replacements as the club undergoes
a rebuilding phase.
Guardado made over hundred appearances for the A Coruna-based club, scoring 12 goals in the process. He joined the club in 2007 from Mexican giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Atlas-c38538. The Mexican wing wizard had also accumulated interest from Manchester United, but the trail has cooled
off.
Following Guardado out of Deportivo La Coruna would be goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dani-c9867 Aranzubia. The goalkeeper had a sensational year for Deportivo in which he managed to score a goal from open play. He is the first shot-stopper in Spanish top division to achieve such
a feat. The Spaniard has made 105 official appearances since joining Deportivo La Coruna in 2008 from Athletic Bilbao.
With Scottish powerhouse Celtic and cash-rich Malaga eyeing the 31-year-old, there is widespread interest in the shot stopper. Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, and Malaga tactician, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Pellegrini, are both keen admirers of the player’s abilities and look
to lure the former Bilbao man to their respective clubs.
Malaga have recently received massive cash injections from their Qatari owners to improve domestic displays and have already acquired the services of veteran Jeremy Toulalan and legendary http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruud-van-Nistelrooy-c31966. They now want to add competition for the gloves
and the once capped Spanish goalkeeper looks to fit the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bill-c7610.
Former Celtic keeper, Javier Sanchez Broto, likes the prospect of Dani Aranzubia at Celtic. The 39-year-old has urged the Celtic gaffer to pursue his interest in the one-time Spanish international, praising his abilities between the sticks and hailing him
as the right replacement
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lassad-Nouioui-c21686 is another player looking for a change of scenery in the ongoing transfer window. Since joining in 2008, the front man has scored 10 goals in 66 matches but failed to establish himself in the squad. The Tunisian forward is in demand from Segunda
Division sides that would be looking to cash on the player’s priceless La Liga experience.
The days of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ayoze-c7079 Diaz, his chances in the first team will be limited in the 2011/12
season.
Stars might be moving away from the beleaguered Deportivo, but the backroom has been very busy. The hunt for a new number 9 is going strong. A new defensive pairing remains a necessity as the ageing legs http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Pablo-c23428 cannot sustain the rigors of
competitive football.
Deportivo will be facing an exodus of stars over the summer transfer window and it has to be looked upon with keen interest how the club brace themselves with the situation they have landed themselves in. It is not a question of boom or bust for the club,
but a matter of time; just how long will the fallen Super Depor take to get back amongst the proud La Liga elite.
