Bergantinos’ contract was going to expire in the summer. The striker has now signed a new deal with a €10 million buyout clause that will keep him with the club until June 2016.
Deportivo’s technical secretary was sitting with the striker when he explained what was going on and how they will go forward with their policies.
The chief mentioned the fact that Alex has been with the club for a long time and that he is still willing to stay and contribute. He said that was the main reason why we wanted him to be the first player to renew his contract.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 was always willing as a football and to be here, and that was taken into account by Deportivo. It is why we wanted him to be the first to renew his contract.”
Ernesto Bello has also revealed how the club have spent a lot of time on analysing the contractual side of their players and mentioned the club have an offer for some players.
“We have spent some time on the players whose contracts are up next summer. Several have an offer on the table and the ball is now in their court.”
The list of players who are believed to get their contracts modified include, German Lux, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Laure-c21726 and finally their main striker, Riki.
Deportivo have also approached their other main striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Riki-c31157, with the option of renewing his stay at the club. They have mentioned they are interested with the player since he is a key and regular player in the squad.
“We are trying to renew as soon as possible the players of interest to us. Riki is one of these and is a permanent fixture in the team.”
Meanwhile, Bello has stated that they are looking for a striker to sign in January since Nelson Oliveira is sidelined for muscle injury.
“If we cannot find one before then, things will be far more difficult.”
The Galician side are currently one point above the relegation zone in the Primera Division.
