I heard that if you make deposits over $2,000.00 US into a Mexican Bank that they will tax the money at 28%...

I would like to know if this is true. Apparently, it was enacted to tax the underground economy in Mexico.

  1. In a word..................no. Simply not true. Who ever you heard that from, never listen to them again about anything. Ever.

  2. if its cash money into a bank you will be tax 18% is call IETU

    started this year.

  3. Highly impossible.  I have more than that in Banamex in Tijuana.  And the last deposit I made was about 8 months ago... it was not taxed at 28%.

Impuesto Empresarial a Tasa Única is the IETU - applies to businesses.  I am not a business, I am an individual.  And big bubba under is correct.. 18% (not 28%), but that applies to businesses.  I am not sure if it's only "cash money" or not.  I have never had to go through that.  And I see that "IETU" began for the year 2008.  My last deposit was sometimes in 2007 though...
