Depressed, what should I do?

I'm severely depressed and I don't have insurance to see a therapist. I dropped out of almost all of my classes last semester in college because of the severity. Everytime I make new friends they turn out to be really selfish and uncaring towards me. I don't have anyone to talk to or anyone that I can trust, I feel totally alone and I don't know what to do.

  1. try to go out and speak to people about it and try to go back in school if your not in yet try to get better friends and don't worry everyone has there days of deppression but don't let it get to much think possitive don't think neggative or else you will get more negative go out to places that make you feel good and relaxed and sad music just makes it way worse i really wish you good luck on that stay possitive :)

  2. what gives girl?? what is making you so down? Is it circumstantial depression over something that has happened? Or do you have a chemical imbalance? If you feel alone you can turn to God. I am not trying to be some preachy bible girl..

I have dealt with depression before and when I was so low, no one was there for me. I turned to God and just started talking to him like a friend. To this day, He is my best friend. It may sound foolish, but he really is the only one who cares and is actually listening. He is there when all the world walks out and when others do not understand your feelings. You will get through this. In the mean time, pray...what do you have to lose? I will pray for you too and God promises peace.

    :)

  3.    What do you do for depression?  I go shopping, usually for clothes.  I have more than i can use but it helped my depression.  Now I am paining my home, this keeps me busy and helps the depression too.  Also giving answers here is another form of therapy for me.

  4. have you tried seeing a doctor? one that can prescribe you medicine? if so, make an appointment with them. do you have any family members that you are close with? maybe you can talk to them. i'm 17 and i've had 2 major depressive episodes in my life. medicine really helped me. having people to talk to also helps. email me if you like @ chocotaco1127@yahoo.com. it is important for you to realize that you are not alone. there are people who feel the same way you do and there are people that have been through that. you will get through this. you will not be like this forever. even though it may seem impossible, try your hardest to keep hope:)

  5. Go to Canada!  They will take of you.  I can't stand the US health system!

  6. Get your phonebook and look for your county mental health department. They might have a long waiting list, but they are supposed to work with you based on how much you make and what your bills are.

  7. Step 1: Ensure your emotion is controlled daily. Don't over reacted, stay calm and don't get worry easily

Step 2: Think before your action. Don't repeat her past experience on herself. Remind herself from time to time.

Step 3: Be confident to yourselves. Remember everyone is the winner. "Only One sperms out of millions fertilize an egg"

Step 4: Get a group of close friends to share your experience and get some activities that would occupied your time

Step 5: Increase scope of life. Meaning that she should involve in more social activities like dancing, outing and others.

Step 6: Put a rubberband on the wrist. If there is a negative thought, Tighten the rubber band and release it. Hence the effect of the pain would be able to reduce the possibility of negative thought.

  8. Depending on where you live........some cities have "free clinics"  Not really free, but the cost is minimal compared to having to pay a full out of pocket bill.

You should try and get seen at a place like that.  You don't necessarily have to talk w/ a therapist.  A family practice doc. can prescribe some kind of anti-depressant medication.  I'm on Wellbutrin (have been on that for about 5 yrs.) It helps me out so much.  I have better days than bad ones.  Things seem to lighten up a bit and you don't feel as down all the time..........you get your energy back and smile more ofen than not.  I totally recommend that you get seen and ask about the Wellbutrin meds.  Good luck.
