Im going to University this year (my first year), and its in a different city. Im just feeling really really depressed and sad about saying goodbye to all my friends back here, especially work mates who iv gotten to know really well. I know it sounds soppy, but now im seriously considering not going at all, and staying in my current part time job here!! Just looking for some support or advice really?

Thanks

  1. Just think about what you want to do. You must have wanted to go to Uni at some point to apply in the first place. It can be the start of a whole new exciting life and your friends will still be there. The good thing is that really you are only away for a couple of months at a time and the Summer holiday is really long. You are bound to be nervous about leaving your family and friends that's natural. But I'm sure you will soon make more friends and widen your social circle. If however you don't want to go to uni and you are only doing it to keep other people happy then its probably not a good idea. I would say if its what you want go for it. Give it a try until Christmas and see how you go most uni's have councillors working where you can go for confidential advice and help. Good luck with what you decide to do.

  2. dont be sad- its the start of a new era and just think how cool it will be to invite your friends from back home to visit and go out round your new haunts together.  If they are true friends you will keep in touch easy.

Be confident and yourself and im sure you'll make lots of new friends - remember theyl all be feeling the same about being in a new place too.

gGood luck - wish it was me - im back to my boring job tomorrow when your off on an adventure you'll always remember

  3. Me too im going in 13 days 0-0

its pretty scary stuff, im moving away from my family my grandparents and my boyfriend.

I keep having the same feelings about maybe not going,

But thing is if we dnt leave now we never will, were just freaking out lol.

First week will probably be hard but everyone will be in the same position.

    Good luck ^-^

Just think of the FREEDOM, the student life and the FREEDOM lol

  4. It's completely normal to feel like this. I felt exactly the same when I went to uni. I have been there for 2 years now and have made loads of new friends. I have found that my friendships with people from home have actually grown stronger because we value are time together more. If you dont go to uni you will probably regret it. You should go and see how it goes, I'm sure you will love it and your friends will be so proud of you that you are trying to make something of your life.

  5. To stay in a part time job instead of Uni would be a MASSIVE mistake...you should give uni at least three terms before you decide...I made the best friends ever at Uni...alhough I thought I was leaving the only good friends I would ever have, behind!
