Depression, how do i help him.?

my fiend is really depressed and is always saying he feels alone and empty ...im always telling him im here , and so many people love him and i know this isnt helping...what can i tell him??

plzzz help i dont know what to do he is an amazing person and i hate seeing him so depressed

  1. to comment on the above...it was a good answer untill the last part when you said these people can break your heart.... classifying this as these people is a rough way to put it. its not that anyone like this doesn't want to get help it is more that they are scared. admiting that there is something wrong and facing the fact that theres a possibility of a mental disorder. you need to encourage him to keep a normal schedule and excercise these things act as an antidepressant. and also encourage him to speak with his doctor, even just starting with the primary care is a releif because they will give you the right advice on what proffessional is the right person for you to go to

    and the these people will break your heart thing is only true if you don't have the courage and patience to help them through their problems. friends and family being there to keep people busy in such a hard time makes it easier....and don't let him rest...go for walks or go for rides blasting music.anything that will keep him in a good mood if only for a few minutes..

    this advise is from my own personal experience, i am fighting through a huge depression episode and would not be able to do it without the help of my best friend pushing me to keep me on a normal schedule and trying to keep me happy


  2. Sometimes you can say and do all the right things and you still can't help them. At this point you should hand the problem over to someone who is able to treat him...for example a doctor or parent. They will get him on some drugs to make him feel better. Just continue to console him and make him feel special.



  3. Step 1: Ensure him emotion is controlled daily. Don't over reacted, stay calm and don't get worry easily

    Step 2: Think before his action. Don't repeat her past experience on herself. Remind herself from time to time.

    Step 3: Be confident to yourselves. Remember everyone is the winner. "Only One sperms out of millions fertilize an egg"

    Step 4: Get a group of close friends to share your experience and get some activities that would occupied your time

    Step 5: Increase scope of life. Meaning that she should involve in more social activities like dancing, outing and others.

    Step 6: Put a rubberband on the wrist. If there is a negative thought, Tighten the rubber band and release it. Hence the effect of the pain would be able to reduce the possibility of negative thought.
