Question:

Depression and children?

I have four boys - 10, 12, 15 and 16. After so many years of nothing but fighting and arguing it has gotten to a point that I just find happiness in absolutely nothing. No hobbies, no time to myself (single mom), I mean, I truly find getting up every morning as a chore. My boys rarely get along and have no qualms about making a scene in public. One of my middle children have ADHD, Tourettes and BiPolar combined. Any recommendations?

  1. Hang on in there you've only got 8 years to go before they are all grown up and starting to think about moving out of the house.  You are probably a great mother and doing the best that you can for your four sons.

Definately see your doctor about the depression and the reasons behind your depression.  And think about gaining some interests outside of the home and some hobbies that you can do while you are sitting down and relaxing.  If you have a wide group of friends make plans to go out at least once every week with one of them - whether its shopping, to the movies, to a beach - anything that will get you out of the house and away from the constant demands of kids.

  2. Well I'm not an adult, I'm 15.

But really your 16 years old son  should be helping out with baby sitting for you and that from time to time so you can get (your time)

and i feel sorry for you no afence with four boys, i think my mum was quiet lucky to have all girls.lol

I think all you need is your own time to relax and not be looking after everyone else every second of your life, they are of the age of able to be with out you for a couple of hours or so.

I would say go to the doctor and they will put you on meds but it does turn you into a complete zombie at times. But only you will know whats best to do in the long run if you go to the doctors or not,but defiantly get some time to go out and be yourself.
