  1. Lots of people from all walks of life suffer from depression and physicians see them all. If they're a good physician they will keep that in mind and listen instead of trying to judge.

  2. depending on how depressed you look and how you are displaying it, he could think anything from cutting yourself to killing yourself.

  3. sorry i am confused

  4. He will not conjure up anything.  Depression is a disease.  Doctors treat disease.  He might be able to help you.  You have nothing to lose and only something to gain.

  5. It depends on the physician. Some doctors get all disgusted and say it's all in your head, get some exercise, get out, get eating properly, it's not depression, you're just lazy, etc etc etc.

Some doctors are extremely understanding. My own doctor has suffered from depression in the past, so I find it extremely helpful to talk to her about how I'm feeling. Not only because she understands, but because oftentimes she'll see right through my bullsh*t. The excuses I make to justify things, etc etc. She calls me on it.

If you have a good physician that you trust, tell them. Otherwise, go in and just describe your symptoms, (loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, feeling tired all the time, not wanting to be around other people, whatever your symptoms are) and let them come to their own conclusion.

  6. he'd probably examine you and then give you a prescription for some pills. IE: Zoloft

  7. I explained the symptoms to my doctor and he agreed. Usually he can tell by the stuff he measures too...

Don't be afraid or ashamed to talk to him/her about it. That is probably the best way to get help.

Before, I was not able to "change gears" when something pizzed me off (and that happened every day.)

Now (with the treatment), crazy stuff happens and I can put it away and think about it a while before reacting. Life is much better!

    Good luck to you!

  8. cymbalta helps relieve depression

  9. Nothing, you aren't the onlt one out there who is depressed. Many people suffer from depression, some time in their lives. You doc might refer you to a psychologist, and have you talk to them. They may put you on anti-depressants.

  10. First of all, you probably shouldn't go to a doctor with a diagnosis.  Tell him what is bothering you, and say that you think you're depressed.  Medical doctors understand that depression is an illness just like the flue or cancer.  But if the doctor you see doesn't seem to understand that, get another doctor!

  11. They are professionals, that's why they go to school for years and get paid the big bucks.  I f you don't trust them, don't go since you already have something conjured up in your mind.

  12. To be honest with you depression is more common than we realize. He or she will probably want to know what's bothering you and talk with you about it some.

  13. If he is really educated in depression he will know that depression is caused by an imbalance of chemicals in the brain and understand that you should most likely be treated either by him or a psychiatrist.

  14. When I discovered I had a problem, I got help so,  I went to therapy for about a year and half and went to a Psychiatrist for about a year and a half. I'm now taking Lexapro 10 mg. and I was taking Zoloft 50 mg.

  15. hm...im not really sure...but i have depression problems to...and i really believe that they might try and help you with meds...and by talkn to you...but im doing better without a physician helping me....i just try and look at the positive things i have instead of getting depressed over every big or little thing that happens...maybe try helping urself first....then if that dosent help then go to a physician....
