Derby Ace Llamados grab their championship ring just before tip-off of PBA Philippine Cup game
A professional basketball team of the Philippine Basketball Association; The Derby Ace Llamados got hold their championship ring just before tip-off of their Philippines Basketball Association (PBA), Philippine Cup game against Barangay
Ginebra.
The King’s started in a fabulous way and jumped on the Llamados' poor start before drifting to an easy 93-82 win at an indoor multi-purpose sports arena, Araneta Coliseum.
King’s,  JJ Helterbrand accomplished  five straight points, which include a three-pointer, to spark a 15-0  in the first seven minutes of the game.
All along that stretch, nothing seems to go right for the defending champions and as a result they went 0-for-8 from the field and perpetrated five turnovers.
Finally a former Mythical Five, Jondan Salvador was the person who successfully broke the silence for Llamados with a tremendous turnaround shot at the 5:08 mark. However by that time the Kings already had everything under their control.
Rudy Hatfield and Ronald Tubid were the best players of the event as they remained the top scorer for the Kings. Both of the players scored 14 points apiece and helped majorly in the dominating plays.
They played a very vital role in the achievement of the team as they not just were good scorers but helped in assisting and defending and that created a lot of pressure in the opponents. Hatfield also added 14 rebounds for his team.
De La Salle Stalwart, had seven points but the event remained most memorable for him as he captured a career-high 16 rebounds.
The opening quarter was ended by the Kings by 28-11. The remains of the match showed a successful run that settled a commanding 47-29 lead at the half.
Enjoying a 29-point lead it came up to 64-35 by midway in the third quarter following consecutive baskets by JC Intal, very well known as “The Rocket”.
The concluding scores of the match were something to watch as fired up plays and ingenuity at its top most level were being witnessed but that did not mean beauty was lying all over the place and just because of that Llamados could not
get over the lead.
Derby Ace’s clean up 14 points from PJ Simon and 12 from Roger Yap, Derby couldn't continue the momentum of their team amelioration win the last time, a 75-71 squeaker of Meralco.
Two-time Most Valuable Player James Yap, was in the basketball court without his protective mask for the first time this season. James was held down to eight points only therefore was a disappointment as much more was expected from him.
