Derby hats: Love 'em or leave 'em?

I've lived in Kentucky for a few years, and I've come to realize that the Kentucky Derby is absolutely HUGE down here. Everyone gets excited about it, gets dressed up...and wears Derby hats.

What do you think of flambouyant Derby hats?

They're all in good fun.  It's tradition and the Derby wouldn't be the same without them.  It's annoying sometimes that they get more attention than the horses.  Overall I like them though... some of them are really pretty and some of them are hilarious.

I am all for tradition and keeping it alive and well! If that means Derby Hats, then so-be-it!

for anyone that hasn't been, go to the Derby it's a whole different world the suits & hats around the stands etc, the half naked people in the infield.

i'm a people watcher, i love to see the hats / watch those people think they are better than the GA. some of the BEST most creative hats are in the infield......... wish i was there.

Well, I never get them but my sister loves horses so I always watch the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and Belmont. I really enjoy them.

Never will wear a hat, think they're are too big. I think a better choice would be a White Sox  hat.
