At stumps on the second day of the four-day match between Derbyshire and Glamorgan in the ongoing County Championship Division Two tournament, hosts Derbyshire lead by 99 runs with five wickets in hand in their first innings after bolstering a mammoth total of 335 runs at County Ground, Derby, on Thursday, May 17, 2012.

Glamorgan, who had smashed 236 runs in their first innings on the first day, struck quick on Thursday as they nabbed the wicket of Borrington with 43 runs on the board. The batsman found his way back to the pavilion after scoring an innings of 15 runs.
While the fielding side gloated for a while on their early morning success, Derbyshire skipper WL Madsen, who had come at number-three, forged an astounding partnership with Guptill to leave Glamorgan in ruins as the two batsmen exhibited perhaps the best form of their life by steering the side to a score of 213 runs, before the devastating partnership came to its demise on the departure of Guptill, who lost his wicket after scoring a gigantic innings of 132 runs.
With the dangerous opener off the field, Glamorgan made a steady comeback in the game as they grabbed a few more wickets.
WJ Durston was the third wicket of the day as he fell at a time when his side had amassed 273 runs. The batsman himself made 30 runs before meeting his doom.
Meanwhile, the skipper kept belting the bowlers out of town as he knew it was imperative for them to continue scoring runs in order to gain an upper hand against their opponents.
