Derbyshire v Hampshire - County Championship Division Two - Day 4 – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789 get humiliated – Live Score and Update
Hampshire 272 & 198 v Derbyshire 275 & 197/4 (41.5 ov) - Derbyshire won by 6 wickets
Derbyshire on Friday, won their County Championship Division Two four-day match against Hampshire by six wickets, successfully chasing a total of 196 needed to win at County Ground, Derby.
With BM Shafayat on 52 and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clinton-Terrence-Perren-c51294 Wood on two, Hampshire began the day’s proceedings by resuming their second innings from a total of 142 for the loss of six wickets.
The duo batted patiently and took the score to 177 before, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wood-c98110, lost his wicket after playing an innings of nine runs. The batsman was caught by Borrington off the bowling of WJ Durston.
Then with 186 on the scoreboard, Hampshire’s hopes of batting throughout the day went flying out of the window on the wicket of  BM Shafayat, who perished on a knock of 81.
The departure of the batsman, exposed Hampshire’s tail with DJ Balcombe and DA Griffiths trying hard to stay on the wicket for as long as possible.
However, the two batsmen could score only nine and five runs before finding their way off the field, as their team faltered on a total of 198 runs in the second innings.
With a meagre total to defend, Hampshire needed a majestic bowling performance in order to humble their opposition.
However, the hosts clobbered an opening stand of 45 runs, before losing their first wicket on the departure of Borrington for 21.
It was then time for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 to take the field, but before he could get his eye in, he lost his skipper WL Madsen for 24.
Khawaja and WJ Durston then forged a daunting partnership, as the duo took the score to 112 runs. In order to win, Hampshire should have prevented this partnership from flourishing, but the two batsmen were just too good for the bowlers.
Finally DA Griffiths stood up and ended the partnership by dismissing Durston, who fell after bolstering an innings of 23 runs.
With DJ Redfern gone for 11, RA Whiteley jabbed an unbeaten knock of 38 runs alongside Khawaja, who remained not out on 72 as the duo batted their side to victory in 41.5 overs for the loss of four wickets.
Khawaja, who hit 71 runs in the first innings and was then equally successful in the second innings, was named as the Player of the Match.
