Derbyshire v Lancashire - Friends Life T20 - North Group - Derbyshire win by 17 runs (DL method) - Live score and Update
Lancashire 168/6 (20/20 ov) v Derbyshire 118/5 (11.3/11.3 ov, target 102) - Derbyshire won by 17 runs (D/L method)
County Ground, Derby: After being bashed for 168 runs, Derbyshire were given a lucky break when the asking target was reduced to 102 runs in 11.3 overs as rain interrupted play after the side had bolstered 118 runs in pursuit of 169 runs, on Wednesday, June 14.
Derbyshire openers, UT Khawaja and WJ Durston hammered 22 runs as they aimed to put their team ahead, however, this opening stand was not enough to give the bowling side any jitters.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 then struck quick once more as they nabbed the wicket of Durston, who fell after scoring a knock of 31 runs.
RA Whiteley and skipper WL Madsen then launched a blatant attack on the bowlers in order to take the side across the finish line.
The time the two batsmen were batting, Derbyshire looked in a comfortable position and dictating terms, however, this was short lived as the challenging partnership was finally broken by Lancashire on the wicket of Madsen, who perished after scoring nine runs.
At the time of this wicket, the side had amassed a tally of 74 runs. And later without adding a run in the total score, the side suffered the loss of Whiteley, who found his way back to the pavilion after scoring 24 runs.
With 82 runs on the board, DJ Redfern became the fifth wicket to fall, as he failed to score a single run before getting caught by Croft off the bowling of Procter.
With light showers, CF Hughes and Naved-ul-Hasan stayed on the wicket long enough to earn their side a win via D/L method as they stayed unbeaten on 16 and 19 runs, helping their team amass 118 runs, after which they had to leave the field as the rain had become unbearable.
The weather did not clear afterwards which resulted in Derbyshire’s victory in this well fought contest.
WJ Durston from Derbyshire was named as the Player of the Match for being the highest scorer from his side.
