Derbyshire v Nottinghamshire - County Championship Division One – Stumps Day 2 – Live Score and Update
Derbyshire 256 v Nottinghamshire 325/5 (107.0 ov) - Nottinghamshire lead by 69 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
At stumps on the second day of the four-day match between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, the latter lead by 69 runs and have five wickets in hand, in their first innings at County Ground, Derby.
After restricting Derbyshire on 256 runs in the first innings and then ending the first day of play by posting 28 runs without any loss, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 resumed their innings in a bid to overcome the Derbyshire total.
Openers EJM Cowan and AD Hales managed to post 95 runs together before Derbyshire tasted their first success when Wainwright had EJM Cowan caught for 59.
The next partnership between AD Hales and MJ Lumb was equally productive as they two batsmen manhandled the bowlers and smacked them all across the park.
The two batsmen were completely unplayable as the bowlers failed to unnerve them at any point during this partnership.
Finally, after conceding 143 runs, the bowling side struck for the second time in the match with Palladino trapping Hales right in front of stumps. The batsman had scored 56 runs before finding his way back to the pavilion.
However, there was no end to Derbyshire’s miseries as MJ Lumb and JWA Taylor continued the batting onslaught.
Finally, Clare struck gold when he nabbed the wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Lumb-c1981, who hit the showers after smacking a 44-run knock. At the time of this wicket, the Notts were sitting on 186 runs on the board.
JWA Taylor and SR Patel were up next and this pair did not make things any easier for the opposition as well. The two batsmen kept finding gaps in the field which helped them in retaining the steady flow of runs.
The two batsmen batted beautifully to take their side towards 275 runs, before http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657 became the next batsmen to find his way off the field. He was dismissed on a run out after forging a knock of 48 runs.
MH Wessels lost his wicket cheaply as he scored only eight runs before crumbling against Whiteley.
With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 unbeaten on 67 and skipper CMW Read on 27, Nottinghamshire closed the day with 325 runs for five.
