Derbyshire v Warwickshire - Clydesdale Bank 40 - Group C - Warwickshire bolster 242 - First Innings Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 242/6 (40/40 ov) v Derbyshire won the toss and chose to field
After winning the toss, hosts Derbyshire wanting to leave the batting side rattled chose to field first in order to give their bowlers a go on a bouncy wicket at County Ground, Derby.
The hosts made early inroads when they nabbed their first wicket with only six runs on the board as Warwickshire opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WTS-Porterfield-c2801, departed after scoring three runs.
The departure of the opener brought skipper, JO Troughton, on the crease and together with V Chopra the batting pair forged a daunting partnership to halt the bowlers from taking away the game.
The duo steered the side to a total of 41 runs before Chopra became the victim of ML Turner after clobbering an innings of 19 runs off 27 deliveries.
Nonetheless, by this time the batting side was well on its way towards bolstering a stable innings in the 40-over game.
Wicketkeeper/batsman, TR Ambrose, then joined his skipper to add to the fielding side’s miseries as this duo became another matter of great concern for Derbyshire, who needed to maintain pressure on the batsmen in order to restrict the batting team on a meagre total.
Finally with 66 runs on the board, Warwickshire suffered the demise of their third wicket when Troughton found his way off the field after scoring an innings of 34 runs.
This wicket was a big break for the fielding side and they saw this as an opportunity to climb back in the game as the opposition skipper was handling the bowlers with utter ease.
However, the arrival of DL Maddy in the middle worsened the situation for the bowlers as the batsman proved just too good for anyone in the Derbyshire camp to be subdued.
The partnership between Ambrose and Maddy changed the course of the game and left the hosts in ruins, who saw the game slipping out of their hands.
The duo took the team tally to 156 runs before Maddy took the final bow by losing his wicket after smashing a stupendous innings of 40 runs.
Later R http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 jabbed a fiery knock of 48 runs off 29 deliveries before departing while Ambrose dug in and stayed unbeaten on a tally of 77 as the side ended their innings.
