Ive had derealization on and off for some years and was wondering if anyone had the same preoccupation as i do where i find myself starring at things trying to work out how they are there, its like i cant rest till i can get that its real feeling and i never do.

  1. The more you preoccupy yourself with trying to make things "real" the worse the derealization can be. Sometimes you have to try to not concentrate on it and just get on with other things. There are some medications that can help, mostly anti-anxiety drugs, which do help even if you don't feel anxious.

  2. Do you ever feel lightheaded or like you are in a dream?  That is where my derealization comes from.  Sometimes I feel so numb when a bad event happens because I think that it might not be real and I'll just wake up from a coma and everything will be okay.

I have that preoccupation too sometimes.  I just ask myself, "how can this be real? How are we all here living?" It just makes me depressed.  I'm not sure if you feel like you are in a dream.. walking around confused, dizzy, lightheaded, etc, and I would like to ask you if you are?

I think the worst thing for me right now is that my dad passed away a little under a year ago (I was 17).  He comitted suicide because he had depression, anxiety, panic, like me.  I feel like it is so unreal sometimes I find myself ready to dial his phone number or anything like that.  I don't even think the worst of the pain has come yet because I feel like I will wake up from this dream and he will still be there... none of this would have happened.

Let me know how you feel unreal.  I am very curious.  Sorry that this post was alittle rambling.
