Dereck Chisora appeals license strip decision – Boxing News
British boxer Dereck Chisora, who was stripped of his boxing license by the British Boxing of Control during a hearing on March 14, filed an appeal yesterday, Thursday, against the decision. Chisora, 28, was charged with misbehaviour on three occasions against
three boxers, Vitali Klitschko, Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye, for which he was banned for indefinite time and was recommended to take anger management classes.
Dereck Chisora’s promoter, Frank Warren spoke about the appeal. He said, “The grounds for the appeal are that we're not satisfied with the way the hearing went. Dereck Chisora will present his side of events and then we'll see what happens. A lot of stuff
came out at the first hearing. For example we thought (BBBC chairman) Charlie Giles was in charge but it turns out there was no steward from the BBBofC representing the British boxer's interests. Instead he was working for the WBC.”
Chisora had first slapped Vitali Klitschko before their bout on February 19, then he spat water on Wladimir Klitschko’s face before the bout with Vitali and eventually he ended up in a barehanded public brawl with David Haye during the post-bout press conference.
Chisora and Haye were both taken in for interrogation by Munich police, however both of them were released shortly. Chisora’s anger was over his defeat to Vitali, but he said that there were other factors involved as well which influenced him to misbehave
before and after the bout.
According to Munich police, both fighters were responsible for the incident. However, since David Haye does not hold a British boxing license, therefore the BBBC was helpless when it came to taking action on Haye. For Chisora, the BBBC ruled, “(He) not a
fit and proper person to hold a license.”
According to Warren, if Chisora gets his license back then he will probably meet Haye in the ring as his next opponent. He added that he does see the fight happening soon since the ring will be a proper forum for both of them to settle their difference.
He also said that Haye and Chisora have a lot to settle down and it should be done in a proper environment, which will be the ring.
