Dereck Chisora fined $100,000 for misbehaviour during fight with Vitali Klitschko – Boxing news
BDB, Bund Deutscher Berufsboxer (a German professional boxing federation), has fined British boxer for $ 100,000 for his misbehaviour before and after the Saturday night bout with Vitali Klitschko.
The federation has frozen $100,000 of the $500,000 fight purse Chisora had to receive. Moreover, the federation has recommended to the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) and the WBC to ban Chisora for life and impose an additional fine of $100,000.
President Thomas Putz of BDB, on Thursday, said, “$50,000 for slapping Vitali Klitschko, $25,000 for spitting on Wladimir Klitschko and $25,000 for the fight with David Haye.”
He further added that nevertheless the final decision would be made by the WBC.
Before the bout with the WBC world heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko, at the pre-fight face-off session, Dereck Chisora slapped Vitali and threatened him. Later on, he spat water on Vitali’s elder brother Wladimir Klitschko in the ring after the fight,
and during the post-fight press conference, he was engaged in a barehanded brawl with former champion David Haye.
According to President Thomas Puetz, the fine levied on Chisora was for all the three incidents. He further added that half of the amount of the fine will remain with the BDB and the other half will be handed over charities supported by the WBC.
On banning Chisora for a lifetime, the BDB made it clear that it will decide on the ban after the British boxing federation has made the final ruling.
Dereck Chisora had previously apologised for the incident, however he still underwent thorough investigation. Similarly, David Haye was also arrested and interrogated for the incident on Monday.
After the interrogation, both the fighters were released. Chisora released a press statement apologising for his misbehaviour and clarifying his stance. However, he did add there were some backstage issues that forced him to take such actions.
Chisora even threatened to kill David Haye and punched his manager. In the pre-fight incident, Chisora said he was sick and frustrated of the Vitali brothers. During all the three incidents, the Vitali Brothers kept their cool since they knew about the grave
consequences they could have faced as well, if they had brawled publicly.
