Dereck Chisora keen to get Haye rematch – Boxing News
Former British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora is keen to get a rematch against David Haye, even though he knows Haye is not looking forward to it. Ever since his knockout defeat to Haye, this is the first Chisora has put forth his thoughts regarding
a rematch.
In an interview to iFilm London, Chisora was asked if he wants to go head to head with Haye once again. The discomfited Brit replied, “It will be another great fight one day. In the future, we're going to go separate ways and then we'll meet up again.”
He added, “Expect to see me in the ring again soon - everyone wants to see it. Maybe two months out, and then back in.”
Chisora suffered a fifth round knockout defeat at the hands of Haye. The bout was controversial yet sold well. Haye emerged superior, not just to Chisora but to his own previous image. He was in better shape and played way better than what he used to do
once.
While Chisora is expecting another showdown against Haye, the latter is eyeing a match against Vitali Klitschko, the current WBC heavyweight champion. Currently, the entire situation is a chaos, assuring no man of a match against the other.
Vitali Klitschko is taking on Manuel Charr on September 8, and will be taking temporary retirement from the sport. His manager has already indicated a possible return of the Ukrainian champion, depending on how his political campaign goes. According to Vitali’s
manager, a bout against Haye is possible next year in March 2013.
For now, Chisora is hopeful to get Haye again in the ring, whereas Haye is hopeful of a match against Vitali, and Vitali is hopeful of permanently retiring from the sport if he wins the election.
At least Haye is satisfied with his career now and he has claimed he would retire without any regrets if he is unable to get a shot at Vitali. In other words, Haye is not looking forward to an encounter with Dereck Chisora. If he is unable to get a shot
at Vitali, he will retire.
