Dereck Chisora summoned by British Boxing Board of Control – Boxing news
Dereck Chisora has been summoned by the British Boxing Board of Control for a hearing on March 14 for his behaviour towards Klitschko and Haye on Friday and Saturday.
Dereck Chisora had slapped Vitali Klitschko on Friday night at the pre-fight photography face-off session. After his defeat at the hands of Vitali Klitschko on Saturday night, Dereck Chisora got into a barehanded brawl with David Haye. Deemed as misconduct,
Chisora now has to face the BBBC to explain his actions.
Even though Chisora has apologised to Haye for his misbehaviour, he still has to be present for the hearing. Chisora even threatened to shoot Haye for which Munich police arrested him. However, he was released soon after an interrogation session.
BBBC’s secretary, Robert Smith, in a press statement, said, “Mr Dereck Chisora has been called to appear before the Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control on Wednesday, 14th March 2012 under Regulation 25 (misconduct) with regard to his behaviour
prior, during and after his contest for the World Boxing Council Heavyweight Championship against Vitali Klitschko on Saturday, 18th February 2012 in Munich. A further statement will be issued following this Hearing.”
Chisora got his license cancelled in October when he announced retirement, which makes him unanswerable to the board. However, if he wants to fight again he will have to apply for the license again.
In a press statement, Dereck Chisora accepted the fact that his behaviour towards both the fighters was inappropriate and that he apologises for it. However, he further notified the press that even though his actions were deemed ill, there were things that
were not brought to the surface.
According to him, there were some things going behind the scenes which had irked him and forced him to like this. Finally, he said that although he lost his temper due to some behind the curtain issues, he still feels embarrassed for his actions and he apologises
for them.
David Haye was arrested too for a short interrogation session. He was soon released like Chisora but since he is not British, the BBBC cannot summon him for explanation. In other words, Haye has sneaked out of this issue smoothly.
