Dereck Chisora to face hearing for his brawl with David Haye – Boxing News
Dereck Chisora, former British heavyweight champion, will be facing a hearing for his misconduct against David Haye in Munich. Chisora and Haye were involved in a public barehanded brawl after Chisora’s fight with Vitali Klitschko, which Dereck lost.
Chisora will be appearing before the British Boxing Board of Control in Cardiff today where he will be asked to explain his misconduct against Haye prior and after his defeat to Vitali Klitschko. It should be noted here that Chisora is not just accountable
for his brawl with Haye but also for slapping Vitali Klitschko a day before their fight and spitting water on Vitali’s younger brother’s face. All these three incidents have made Chisora quite notorious and now he is into legal trouble as well.
BBBC has already given out a ban on Chisora for an indefinite time period, but Chisora along with lawyer has appealed against it. On the other hand, David Haye has escaped the scenario since he is not licensed by the BBBC. On Haye’s involvement, the BBBC
clearly said, “Mr Haye is not a licensed boxer with the British Boxing Board of Control and therefore no longer under the jurisdiction of the British Boxing Board of Control.”
Chisora will be going to the hearing with his lawyer Jonathan Crystal and his manager Frank Warren.
The very next day of the incident, Chisora released a statement apologising for his acts. However, the BBBC paid no heed to his apology and said that his behaviour was unacceptable and he should face the punishment for it.
Chisora’s behaviour not only irked the BBBC, but also many other notable performers such as Amir Khan and Lennox Lewis. Amir Khan, the British-Pakistani former unified IBF and WBA super lightweight champion, in his recent interview said that Chisora should
be fined heavily for his behaviour and that Chisora should learn to respect the sport. He further added that being a boxer it does not suit Chisora to get involved in such ridiculous acts. Khan even went onto say that no matter what happens he himself will
never go for such an act and he will try to settle out his differences in the ring.
