The veteran returns to his old hunting ground; future still unsure ....

Derek Fisher, the veteran guard who has won multiple championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, is once again looking to join his former team. Fisher, a five time NBA champion and current free agent, worked out with the Lakers
on Tuesday.
The Lakers held an informal workout on Tuesday for their new players, a pre training camp workout as training camp is still two weeks away. Their recently acquired point guard Steve Nash was present on the occasion and as was former
guard Derek Fisher.
Fisher has a long history with the Lakers and a special relationship with their franchise player, Kobe Bryant. Moreover, he has been part of the Lakers team for all the five NBA championships they have won since 2000. His experience
and presence in the locker room was a great asset for the team, and helped bring the group together. Hence, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Fisher was shocked and disappointed when the Lakers decided to trade him to the Houston Rockets at the trade deadline
last season.
The Rockets later waived him and the one guard found a spot on the roster of Oklahoma City Thunder, and appeared in yet another NBA Finals. However, since then, he has not received a job offer from any team.
Fisher was rumoured to be in talks with Oklahoma City, Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls regarding a contract over the summer, but nothing actually materialized. He may be thinking of re-uniting with his former club but the reality
is that the Lakers are already deep at that position, and have their roster almost full.
Derek averaged 5.6 points and 2.7 assists last season, while making no meaningful impact in the playoffs for which he was brought to Oklahoma City. With that in mind, it seems as if Fisher will have to wait till midseason to find
a new team to play with. His chances of signing with the Lakers are further weakened by the fact that the franchise cannot sign him until March due to the rules attached with his trade to Houston.
It may well be time for Fisher to bring an illustrious career to an end.
