Derek Fisher urges Oklahoma City Thunder to show their character – NBA Update
After slicing through the Miami heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder failed to play at their best in the last two games and have struggled in crunch situations.
The nerves especially got the better of Thunder in Game 3, when a few late blunders became the cause of the loss.
NBA Finals are however all about fighting against adversity and nobody in the league knows how to handle that pressure more than the veteran point guard Derek Fisher.
The one guard who joined the Thunder during the mid season trade window this season will play his 42nd NBA Finals game tomorrow night and has urged his side to show Miami and the NBA world what they are made up of.
According to Fisher, winning an NBA Championship is all about fighting against the odds;
''This is another great opportunity to show what becoming a champion is all about. You know, it's not something that ever has come easy,'' said guard Derek Fisher, who has won five of them.
''Every team that has won a championship has earned the right to be champions. And so we're faced with another opportunity again tomorrow night to come together as a team and be confident in who we are and figure out a way to come
out here and win a game. You know, things turn a great deal in these series with one game, and we have the opportunity to turn it tomorrow.''
This is not the first time, Oklahoma City have been up against it in this years’ playoffs. In the Western Conference Finals against the hands down title favourites San Antonio Spurs, Thunder were two games down at the start of
the series and it seemed that they were gone for all money. However OKC rose up to occasion when it mattered the most and inflicted four consecutive losses on the Spurs to make their way into the NBA Finals.
They now need to do a bit of the same against Miami Heat. The problem however is that Miami is also a team scorned, after having lost last year’s finals against Dallas Mavericks. They are as athletic as Thunder and just like them,
have three stars who can take over the game at any time. To beat the Heat and that too in their own backyard will be nothing short of a miracle.
