Derek Jeter inspires New York Yankees to 4-3 win over Texas Rangers – MLB Update
New York Yankees crushed Texas Rangers 4-3 at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Monday, April 23 in the opening game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
With their win over the Rangers on Monday evening, New York improved their win-loss record to 10-6. It will be interesting to see if they can come up with similar performances throughout the season to make it to the World Series finals.
Veteran Derek Jeter had another memorable night with a four hit outing. Ace C.C. Sabathia is also improving with each passing day as he pitched eight solid innings. Striking out eight batters, he earned his 12th career win against the American
League champions.
Yankees have now won 10 out of their last 134 games and they will be looking to maintain their impressive in their next fixture. Alex Rodriguez also had a great time on the plate, hitting a three run home run to lift his team to a deserving 7-4 win over
the Rangers.
"I keep kidding him that it's like 1999 again -- three hits every day. He's amazing," Rodriguez said of the 37-year-old Jeter.
"He's playing like he's 25," manager Joe Girardi said. "He's off to a great start. He feels good physically and that's the most important thing."
The Yankees will be extremely delighted with the way they have bounced back after suffering series sweep at the hands of Tampa Bay Rays. It has been an astonishing turn around by Joe Girardi and company who looked completely down and out after their first
three games of the season.
Yankees made the Rangers run for their money in a game that proved to be fairly one sided at the end. The Rangers had plenty of scoring opportunities but they were unable to take advantage of some of Yankees’ throwing errors.
Rangers had an absolutely brilliant series against red hot Detroit Tigers and they were hoping to play aggressive brand of baseball against the Yankees. However, it was Texas who looked short of answers during the contest and the Yankees got off to the best
possible start.
