Derek Warwick believes Lewis Hamilton may regret his move to Mercedes in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Former British Formula 1 driver, Derek Warwick believes that his compatriot, Lewis Hamilton may regret his move to Mercedes in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Hamilton has been considered as one of the most talented drivers in the sport as he has delivered some remarkable performances in his career so far.
The British driver has been a proud driver of McLaren until now, but he has planned to join the Brackley based team in the next season and will replace the record championship holder, Michael Schumacher who has decided to say goodbye to the sport. Moreover,
he will drive alongside Nico Rosberg in the coming year.
It will be important to note that both the German drivers of the Silver Arrows have struggled a lot during this season because of the technical issues in their cars. Furthermore, the development process of Mercedes was not up to the mark and they faced immense
difficulties with their new exhaust layout during the last few races.
Therefore, Warwick thinks that the 2008 world champion is going to face problems in the next year as his new team has not been able to develop a competent car so far.
“You are never going to see McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari out of top three and I'd say McLaren and Red Bull are favourites to fight it out again. It just depends on which way round they finish at the top,” Warwick told
Daily Star.
“And the great thing Red Bull have is a certain gentleman called Adrian Newey, who is without doubt the best designer and race car engineer there is in F1,” he said.
Nevertheless, he expressed that he is hoping to see the 27-year-old prosperous with Mercedes in the future and wish him all the best.
“I desperately hope Mercedes,” he added, “will be competitive but either Lewis knows something we don't or he's lying in bed at night thinking, ‘What have I done!’”
It will be very exciting to see how the Briton performs in the next season and whether he comes up to the expectations of his fans or not.
