Dereks Ellwood holds the reigns of the William Hill – The Homes Of Betting Stakes on 28th February
The Grade A6 William Hill – The Homes Of Betting Stakes will be held on Tuesday, 28th February at Newcastle over 480 metres flat. The £108 prize money will be presented to the winner of the race.
One of the most influential entries for the race is Dereks Ellwood, Droopys Maldini’s three-year-old blue son out of b***h Blackhouse Dolly. The seven starts that he made during the 2012 season deprived him of a victory and it was on 23rd February
that Dereks Ellwood struck his seasonal debut win.
He won the Grade A7 William Hill – The Home Of Betting at Newcastle and clocked the 480 metres distance in 30.11 seconds, leading by ¾ of a length. Tashas Dream was second while the 2/1 favourite of the race, Flick The Bails, finished third after the winner.
The worst that Dereks Ellwood came across was a fourth position three times after stepping into the new season. Not failing miserably in any of the attempts and then eventually getting a race under his belt, will obviously make the connections yearn for
further victories.
Today’s race might just be the right chance to accomplish that.
Kernow Star, Four Dubs’s two-year-old blue and brindle son out of b***h Ripley Lady, has already stamped his seasonal debut victory and possesses the potential to outshine in tonight’s race.
After parking third and fourth in the first two starts of 2012, Kernow Star won the William Hill Hotbox Bet Stakes on 9th February at Newcastle. He covered the 480 metres distance in 30.02 seconds and the 2/1 favourite of the race led by four
lengths.
Finishing the closest to the winner was Lucky Rover.
On 16th February, Kernow Star was sent as a 9/4 favourite in the Grade A6 Bet On Your Mobile At Williamhill.Com at Newcastle over 480 metres. Kernow could only manage the fifth position as he took 30.46 seconds to reach the other end of the wire.
Today will be his fifth start and a second chance of grabbing a victory during 2012.
Rest of the lineup includes Bua Ciarrai, Ding Dong Daddy, Tag Along Ned and Runaway Bay.
Dereks Ellwood has won lately while Kernow Star has been entered as a favourite in his last two races. How will the records settle for each of them, will surface after the race.
