Deron Williams and Dwight Howard avoid questions of playing together in the same team - NBA Update
New Jersey Nets may have Dwight Howard in the ranks very soon.
Despite an ordinary season so far, which has been mainly because of the frequent injuries of the players, they still have a talented roster and one of the best players in the league - Deron Williams.
And after March 15th, there probably would be an addition of Orlando Magic’s star Howard in the team, so it is safe to assume that Nets will gradually emerge as one of the elite teams in the league.
Dwight, who has requested Orlando to trade him, is expected to join the Nets and although this will leave Magic in a disaster, on the other hand, it will turn the things around outstandingly for the Nets.
Just a day before the All Star break, both Deron and Dwight were asked about the prospect of playing together in the future. Not surprisingly, both avoided the questions.
Howard added that he is only focusing on having a good time this week and not thinking about what would happen after the week.
“The situation right now is All-Star Weekend — that’s the only thing that matters,” Howard said. “All that stuff can go on after All-Star Weekend, but right now my focus is on having a great time, being a great host to all these
great players. ... So we’re not going to talk about it right now.”
On the other hand, Williams dodged the questions, exclaiming
“We definitely have some good pieces, but it’s where it goes from there, we’ll see,” said Williams “I like where I’m at. I like the organization. We have a lot of great pieces, but we’ll see what happens as the season goes on.”
Both Deron and Howard are due to become free agents by the end of this season, and although it is almost clear that Deron is not going to quit the team who has invested so much in the team, Howard is probably going to say farewell
to Orlando.
This move should not come as a surprise as many other elite players have done this in the past as well, to give themselves a chance of winning a championship title.
Howard, although has still not made a final decision about leaving or staying back in Orlando. The Magic have been lobbying hard to convince Howard about the bright future prospects at Orlando and it would be interesting to see
if he decides to leave and join the Nets in future.
