Deron Williams limiting his interest to Brooklyn Nets and the Dallas Mavericks – NBA Report
One of the best players available this year as a free agent would be Deron Williams and he has made his intentions clear that he would like to join either the Dallas Mavericks or stay with the Brooklyn Nets.
According to sources close to the matter, Williams has already opted to narrow his options down and has advised his agents to reject any other offers coming in for him. Williams has been with the Nets franchise since his trade
from the Utah Jazz in 2011 which sent Devin Harris and Derrick Favors the other way.
The Nets management have been hopeful of re-signing Williams in order to continue the rebuilding process and they do have the money available from billionaire owner, Mikhail Prokhorov.
However according to the sources, Williams has been house hunting in Dallas over the last month, and that has increased the possibility of him moving back to the Western Conference.
Williams enjoyed an illustrious high school career in Dallas and with Dirk Nowitzki already present at the franchise, the Mavericks do present an ideal opportunity for the one guard to kick start his championship hunt. The All-Star
point guard had said at the start of the month that his priorities are all about winning now and considering the fact that the re-building in Brooklyn might take some time, Williams might want to join the Mavs this summer.
"I want to go to a place where I feel like they will have a chance to build and build fast, I'm not really in the mood for being part of a rebuilding process. I'm getting older. I'm about to be 28. I want to win. I want to win
now. Also, I want to live in a place where I want to live and my kids will enjoy living. That's pretty much it."
If Williams decides to join the Dallas franchise, he would be looking at a deal worth $75 million for four years, a year and nearly 30 million less than what the Nets can offer. However given the chance of playing along with Nowitzki
and a team who has experience of being in the playoffs and winning it all, Dallas do look to the better option at the moment.
