Deron Williams looking for a ‘big’ addition to the New Jersey Nets – NBA Update
Super star point guard Deron Williams want the New Jersey Nets to recruit a quality big man in the free agency so that the side can make the next level. The celebrated guard named a few guys he would like to play with, and unsurprisingly,
Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard came at the top of the list.
Howard has been phenomenal in the last few years and seems to just get better with time. The centre already has 3 NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards to his name and his dominant offensive game can often make him unstoppable.
Williams, like many in the NBA world today, believes that Howard is hands down the most dominant centre in the game. He believed it would be foolish of any point guard in the world not to be excited by playing with such an amazing
big man.
"I think if you're a point guard and you could play with D-12 and you leave, you're not very smart," Williams said.
There are rumours abounding that Howard and Williams could indeed be playing together soon, but not in New Jersey. Los Angeles Lakers are believed to be weighing their options of bringing the two burgeoning talents to Hollywood,
though Williams doesn’t believe that is an option.
"I don't think there's any way that can work out," he said.
He has just arrived in New Jersey last season and wants to stay with the franchise for some time now. He believes that the team has a lot of potential and with a few additions could be ready to challenge for some serious honours.
While bringing Howard right now would most likely mean that the Nets have to part with prized centre Brook Lopez and some other promising players, the club could instead opt to go and buy in the free agency.
The Nets have plenty of cap space to spare and could prove to be a possible destination for two other centres available in the free agency this year. Tyson Chandler, the Dallas Mavericks NBA World Championship winning defensive
lynchpin is available and could bring some serious resolve to the side while Nene, who has only played with the Denver Nuggets so far in his career, would bring a potent offensive option.
"I like both of those guys, to tell you the truth," said Williams said about Chandler and Nene "Both of those guys would change the dynamic of this team instantly."
If any one of the three, Howard, Nene or Chandler, joins Williams in New Jersey, it could make his job very easy. The player has done well since his tumultuous move mid-season, but is now aiming to get into top gear.
"It was tough at first, but it's a new chapter and I'm excited about it," Williams said.
