Question:

Derren Brown's 'The System' ....?

Followed this through on Ch4 last night and understood how it was just one big pyramid system to give the effect of an unbeatable system. But how did he pick the winner of the 6th and last race? Did he bet £4000 on each of the five runners and then hand the lady the winning slip by sleight of hand? Surely the lady would have known that he had backed the wrong horse just by checking the slip? And he couldn't chance that she would, otherwise no great story! Anyone agree how this was done?

  1. I think he either distracted her enough that she didn't check the slip, or he bet on all horses and slipped her the winning slip.

  2. She was to nervous to pay any attention to the slip from what i saw.

Also i think he was just picking a random horse from the favorites to win.

Id like to know that too though if anyone has any better ideas, otherwise ill stick to mine

  3. it seemed to be a process of elimination up the point where she had her big bet, whos to say he didnt have inside info on the horse?? bit of a letdown really, the best part of it was how he came to select her from the 500 people..

  4. I was wondering that!!! I guess that he must have placed a £4000 bet on each of the horses. Either that, or their is just something deeper going on?

  5. I think that he put the bet on them all to make the show end good, there was only 5 horses so that would be nothing to them. I really thought he was going to give me a great tip for winning too, how disappointing!
