Derrick Rose, Kevin Love -
Milestones accomplished in the 2010-2011 NBA season (Part-2)
Derrick Rose
Since the Michael Jordan championship era, the Chicago Bulls continued to struggle in the Eastern Conference until the epic emergence of the sharp-shooter Derrick Rose this year. The 22-year-old Rose not only brought back the tag
of one of the best teams in the league, he has also given a reason to the Chicago Bulls to embark on the Championship road once again.
The extent of Derrick’s abilities remained no secret in the last season when he guided the franchise on the top almost singlehanded. In the process, Rose made history by becoming the youngest player ever to clinch the Most Valuable
Player (MVP) award. He in effect, became one of the biggest highlights of the 2010-2011 season.
Rose, who also became the first person to clinch an MVP title in his third season since Moses Malone, said on his tremendous achievement.
“It’s amazing. This is only my third year. I’m still learning things about the game, still making careless turnovers, things like that. But to be MVP at 22 years old, it makes me want to push harder, work harder, stay in the gym
longer. Those are the types of things that push me, especially having this award. I’m blessed to be in this position right now.”
Even though no one can fulfill the gap which was left with the retirement of the NBA Legend Michael Jordan, however the Bulls can definitely expect to win a number of championships with the All-Star Derrick Rose who is only shy
of a substantial experience on his resume.
Under the leadership of Rose on the court, Bulls managed to make it into the Eastern Conference Finals. However, the lack of experience and a weak supporting cast around Derrick hampered Chicago Bulls from taking control over the
spirited Miami Heat in the series which ended their magnificent play-off journey.
The shortcomings won’t stay for a longer period though as Rose will be fully prepared in the next couple of seasons and the franchise now knows the importance of assembling a better supporting cast around their superstar.
Kevin Love
The 2010-2011 season turned out to be another disaster for the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves as they finished with the worst overall record in the league for the second successive time. However, not everything went wrong for the
depleted Timberwolves.
In fact, Minnesota Timberwolves’ influential power forward Kevin Love startled the world of NBA by posting a record of 64 double-doubles against the spirited Western Conference foes. The dynamic player Kevin also recorded 53 successive
double-doubles. By doing this, Minnesota Timberwolves’ superstar Love also associated himself with the longest double-doubles streak by a player since NBA-ABA merger.
As a result of his dazzling performances throughout the season, the double-double machine Kevin Love was named as the NBA’s Most Improved Player in the 2010-2011 season. Compared to the 2009-2010 season in which he averaged 14.0
points and 11.0 rebounds, Kevin’s performance received a major boost up as he averaged 20.2 points and 15.2 boards in the last season.
In the year of his career, Kevin earned the reputation of a constant double-double threat which shows his potential of becoming one of the best NBA players in the coming years.
