Derrick Rose's latest injury not a serious one - NBA Update
Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose is having an injury plagued season and has already missed 7 games due to different kind of injuries.
Last two of those were because of back spasms which hurt the Bulls big time as they lost the game against the Boston Celtics. However, the Bulls don’t need to panic much because their sharpshooter’s recent injury is not a threatening
one.
Rose visited a specialist on Monday night to find out if the spasms were routine or much serious but fortunately for him and the team, the MRI results showed that it is just a muscular problem and his bone structure is completely
intact.
Bulls General Manager Gar Forman confirmed the news.
"Derrick saw a specialist this morning," Forman said. "And it reconfirmed what we had thought previously and what the MRI had shown in that there is nothing structurally wrong with his back. It's muscular. So at this point, we
will continue with what we're doing, which is we'll continue with his therapy, continue to get rest, and it will be day to day. Seeing how he responds to the therapy. And when we feel, he feels that he's well enough to go back on the floor [he'll return]."
This is great news for the Bulls.
Rose is undoubtedly the backbone of the team and although there are other talented players on the roster like Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer, Bulls rely mainly on the 23 year old Rose to win them games.
Bulls have managed it pretty well without him, winning 6 games in a 9 game road trip which ended on Monday with a disappointing loss over the Boston Celtics. Without Rose, the Bulls won their game against the Sacremanto Kings last
night, but they still have to play a few important games this week against the New Jersey Nets and the Celtics. Although at the moment, Rose’s availability is still in doubt, the whole team would be hoping he recovers quickly.
Forman added that Rose is being monitored on day-to-day basis and his selection in the final line-up in the upcoming games would be based on his fitness and his own will to play.
When asked whether Rose would be doing any sort of therapy in coming days, Forman explained, he is not too sure about that but if it is required, team management would definitely go for it.
Rose despite the injuries has performed up to a reasonable level, averaging 22 points and 7.8 assists so far. Hopefully, he would recover soon and continue entertaining the crowds.
