Derrick Rose ahead of Ricky Rubio in recovery from ACL injury – NBA News
Ricky Rubio is currently floating in the same boat as the Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose. Rubio, the rising point guard of the Minnesota Timberwolves, tore his ACL back in March last season. Rose tore his at the end of April. Both players are point guards who the fans would love to see on the court. Both players are important for their teams to the point that the success of the team relies on their return back to action. As both players suffer from the same injury and the same prolonged rehab and recovery process, they have something in common. Something they can share with each other, as both are going through the same process and feeling the same emotions. And the Chicago Tribune has reported that Rose is ahead of Rubio in his recovery process.
“It’s a tough injury. You are like six, eight, nine months without playing your favourite sport. Sometimes it’s just playing basketball where you forget about everything and just enjoy it. I just wish him a healthy recovery. Nobody had the same injury. I mean, a little more meniscus or two ligaments or just one. Every player is different. Every recovery is different,” said Rubio while talking to the Chicago Tribune.
Rubio is behind Rose in his recovery schedule as Rose has started shooting jumpers where as Rubio has not. It may seem odd that despite the fact that Rose was injured a month after Rubio, he is still ahead of him in recovery. However, it is not that unbelievable since each injury has its own complications and each player has his own healing time and speed.
“Like Rose, Rubio has yet to start cutting. Unlike Rose, who started shooting jumpers weeks ago, Rubio is just progressing from set shots,” reported the Chicago Tribune.
Even though Rubio is behind Rose in terms of recovery schedule, he is still expected to return sometime December, whereas Rose is not expected to return till next year. This is also due to the fact that every injury is different and hence, the rehab process is different as well. It is expected to take Rose a longer time to go from jump shots to playing in games, whereas the time is less for Rubio because of his injury. At the end of the day, what matters is that both players return to their teams fully healed and are able to play at the same level as they did before the injury. There is no competition between them regarding who returns first, and the sole objective of both players is to fully recover and avoid complications.
