Derrick Rose does a LeBron James; Says he will win multiple NBA World Championships
Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose has ruffled a few feathers after he said in an interview that he wants to win multiple NBA World Championships.
Sound familiar?
Right. A certain mister LeBron James also uttered the same words when he infamously took his talents from an outraged Cleveland to the South Beach last season.
Rose won the NBA’s Regular Season Most Valuable Player Award last season for his exploits with the Bulls and in doing so he became the youngest ever recipient of the award.
Derrick was a revelation last season when he led the Chicago Bulls to a successful NBA season. The Bulls hired former Boston Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau as their head coach at the start of the season. He brought a defence
first mentality to the side and Derrick immediately bought into the philosophy. The result was that Chicago transformed into the best side in the league. They had the best record in either conference in the regular season.
Derrick himself came of age and turned into a super star after being a promising talent for the last two seasons. He led the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals, which marked the first time the Bulls progressed past the first
round of playoffs since the Michael Jordan era.
Derrick and the Bulls however found LeBron James and the Miami Heat too much to handle in the Conference Finals. The trio of LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh aka ‘The Big Three of Miami’, overcame the Bulls who just had Derrick
Rose as a potent offensive weapon.
Derrick though blamed himself for the loss afterwards and took responsibility. He promised to be better next season and has now revealed his disappointment with how things went in the playoffs, as well as his ambitious goals for
the future,
“It was great but I’m not satisfied. I won’t be satisfied until I win a championship. I’m not satisfied at all. There’s not a doubt in my mind that I’m not going to win a championship. I’m going win multiple championships. It’s
not a doubt in my mind.”
Many analysts have blamed the loss of the Bulls on a lack of depth in the roster and lack of support for Rose on the offensive end. Whilst Miami had a three pronged attack with Wade, James and Bosh, Chicago time and again just
turned to Derrick to provide some inspiration. It was thus suggested that the Bulls could look to land some free agents in the summer, but the reigning MVP is adamant they don’t need anyone,
“We don’t need it right now. If we sign somebody that can definitely fit ... But to me I think that we are OK.” Rose said.
It is pertinent to mention here that before the start of the previous season Derrick had stated his desire to win the MVP award. This time around he has set his sights on the NBA World Championship.
