Derrick Rose injured again, misses game against the New York Knicks, Likely to play against Miami Heat – NBA News
It was a long wait to see Derrick Rose out on the court again Sunday night. Not because the Chicago Bulls were doing poorly without him, nor because their position in the conference was jeopardized in any way. It was because of
the simple fact that the reigning MVP of the NBA is a treat to watch on the court, and fans not only in Chicago but all across the world want him to hit the game winning shot which he has now become famous for, almost every game.
Derrick Rose played his first game Sunday night against the New York Knicks after missing 12 in a row with a groin injury. And we found out later that Rose had twisted his ankle during the 2nd quarter in that very game.
So the next time, when the Bulls took on the Knicks, this time in their own backyard, Rose did not play.
Rose later revealed that twisted his ankle in the second quarter, but continued to play the game as he wanted to ensure a victory for his team. That worsened the injury.
The Bulls talisman was on the court Tuesday to test his ankle with team physician Brian Cole with front office bigwigs John Paxson and Gar Forman watching him. He cleared to pass the fitness tests, but is hopeful to be back Thursday,
when Chicago plays against #2 seed Miami Heat.
"You know how I am: If it's a close game or one I want to get, I'm going to continue to play. I ended up making it worse. It's just an ankle sprain. Hopefully, I'll be over it in a couple of days” said he MVP.
Rose was, however, pretty happy with the way his groin injury has healed. He said he did not feel any discomfort in his groin on Sunday night when he played against the Knicks.
"It's behind me. I didn't feel it that game. I'm just trying to get my driving game back. My shot was OK. I just have to get used to attacking again” said Rose referring to the injury.
Coach Tom Thibodeau said that Rose’s injuries were not related in any way. He was hopeful that Rose would be back in action against Miami on Thursday, but left it on the physicians to clear him.
"He has to be cleared. He said he's feeling better. But we have to make sure he can go. If he can't go, our guys have shown we have more than enough to win with” said the coach.
The Bulls have been playing well without Rose over the past few games and saw a good sign in Tuesday night’s win over New York when Rip Hamilton found form to score 20 points in just 20 playing minutes. However, as the playoffs
approach, a healthy Rose is fundamental to the Bulls plan of making it to the Eastern Conference finals, atleast.
