Derrick Rose lavishes praise on Chicago Bulls Coach Tom Thibodeau – NBA Update
Derrick Rose recently sat down for an interview and the Chicago Bulls star used the opportunity to sing the praises of his first year head coach, Tom Thibodeau. Rose and Thibodeau were the two men responsible for Chicago’s tremendous
success on the court last season, transforming the franchise from an also ran to genuine NBA World Championship contenders.
Derrick himself had a splendid season, becoming the youngest NBA regular season MVP in the history of the league. He was the leader of the side on the court and their main offensive weapon that wowed audiences around the league
with his jaw dropping plays time and again.
The point guard though was adamant that Tom was a basic reason behind his own success and said the coach was the best he has ever had in his short career so far,
”He’s the greatest coach I’ve ever had,” Rose said. “Just his professionalism, his work ethic as a coach ... He works as hard as any coach I’ve ever been around. Film session, making sure that we work out everyday hard ... The
only coach I’ve talked to on a regular basis throughout my whole life. He could be looking at film and call me or I could call him no matter how late it is and we talked about basketball.”
Tom Thibodeau won the NBA Coach of the Year award last season for his outstanding contribution to the Chicago Bulls. The coach only joined the Bulls at the start of the season for his first gig as a head coach in the league. He
had previously been the lead assistant to Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers.
Thibodeau brought his defence first mentality with him from the Celtics. He drilled his players in defence and made the side one of the best in the league at it, despite their limited resources and a perceived lack of size in the
paint. Apart from Rose, the team doesn’t have too many outstanding athletes as well.
Furthermore Tom helped in developing Rose into the player he is now. He transformed the team’s fortunes on the court. Chicago went from a mid table side to one contending for the NBA World Championship in the space of a year under
his stewardship. They also progressed past the first round of the playoffs for the first time in years.
Tom and Rose achieved an awful lot in a short space of time together, but Rose warned the league that the duo was not done yet. Derrick revealed he will be even hungrier than before next season as he chases after the NBA Word Championship
crown.
