Derrick Rose: Will he go a step further next season – NBA Feature
In the last NBA season, fans watched an outstanding game form the Chicago Bulls especially Derrick Rose. He was given the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after averaging 25 points along with 7.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game.
By winning 62 games in 2010-2011 NBA season, Rose led the Chicago Bulls to go on higher level. Chicago has won many games in this season than previous year.
It should be kept in mind that the Bulls are not an offensive team. Until last October, he was not one of the top eight players to qualify for the MVP award. Rose’s average points per game and assists were not up to the mark for
top 5 leader board. It was obvious how the Bulls kept relying on him to produce. This had forced him to increase his score in a game and has dropped his field goal percentage to only 35. If only he had been given the opportunity to show his talent on teams
like the Suns or Mavericks, then his statistics would have shown a completely different picture.
Still a very young player aged only twenty-two; Rose does not like the glamorization which is expected from NBA players. The MVP award had even failed to change his calm attitude as he is the youngest player in the history of NBA
to win this award. He had simply declined to perform a team dance during an All-Star game, although he was persuaded to do so by many other players. He is simply not a fame-starved player. One might have never seen him yelling on other players or team officials
unlike Kobe Bryant and KG. His fast and focused game speaks for him. These are the few traits which distinguishes him from the rest.
The bulls and especially Rose was seen under pressure from the giants of Miami Heat. It was as if he was facing LeBron James and Dwayne Wade all by himself. His 6’ 3” frame helps him to move quickly on field and he is seen doing
many things on the field at a time. But Wade and James made him move from one place to another so much that he could not handle for long.
Although, the team could be blamed but Rose had took the responsibility on him by admitting that he was exhausted. His weariness resulted in his miserable performance in East Conference Finals. He had committed not only to learn
from it but also to work on his condition. Bulls are trying to get along well. For this purpose, Derrick is trying to get a gym where all the team mates can come for training and workout.
Rose has only entered his fourth year in the league and he had already led the Bulls thrice to the playoffs in this short span of time. All in all, he is capable enough to do a lot but the dire need of a better shooting guard is
still there. Once this issue is resolved, then we will have to keep our hopes high for the Bulls to win the title.
