Derrick Rose makes a return to non-contact practice – NBA Report
The Chicago Bulls are 16-12 and at the fourth spot in the top heavy Eastern Conference so far, but to say that the Bulls have missed their star point guard Derrick Rose will be understatement.
The Bulls have had it tough, and had it not been for Coach Tom Thibodeau’s defence first philosophy and All-Star level performances from Luol Deng and Joakim Noah, the Bulls would have been in trouble. Even then, the Bulls are missing that spark which made them the best team in the entire league for two seasons running.
Rose had torn his ACL in the game-1 of the first round series of last season’s playoffs and has not participated in any sort of physical activity since. According to the initial estimates, he was expected to start light conditioning somewhere around Christmas, and according to CSNChicago.com, the former MVP is right on track. According to their correspondent, Aggrey Sam;
“CSNChicago.com has learned that over the last two days, minus the contact portions, the former league MVP has been a full participant in the team’s practices at the Berto Center.
However, that doesn’t mean Rose will return to the court in the near future, as it was always the plan to have him increase his basketball workload in an effort to get familiar with his new teammates, have a comfort level in running the offense and regain a semblance of his timing, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.”
Throughout the rehabilitation period, the Bulls’ star guard has ensured interaction with the fans either through YouTube messages or in the form of appearance at product endorsements. While the guard has been desperate to make a comeback at the earliest, he has also been mindful of proper recovery to avoid a relapse, which can cause a lot of complication for not the player, but the franchise as well.
At this point, it is believed that any return date for the comeback will have to be mutually agreed by the player’s representatives, team doctors and Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, who has been very candid about not allowing Rose back on the floor till he is 100 percent sure.
