Derrick Rose missing Chicago Bulls during lockout – NBA Update
NBA super star Derrick Rose has revealed that he is missing his team, the Chicago Bulls.
"I do miss talking to the people at the Bulls organization, my coaching staff. I miss that. But it's not stressful or anything. I'm not panicking. I'm taking my time." Rose said according to the Chicago Tribune.
Derrick, like other NBA players, cannot contact any team officials or the owners during the lockout. He is also barred from utilizing the team’s training facilities, though NBA players have been compensating for that by working
out by themselves in private gyms around the country. Perhaps most importantly for Derrick, he cannot talk to the NBA coaches.
He had formed a special bond with head coach Tom Thibodeau last year, when the latter came over from the Boston Celtics to take charge of the Bulls. Rose bought into Tom’s philosophy right from the start and the player coach duo
was largely responsible for the best Chicago Bulls season in years.
He was present in Chicago for unveiling a renovated playground at Murray Park, the South Side basketball court, where he started playing basketball and developed the basic skills that would one day help him become a truly great
NBA player. Some of Rose’s sponsors had undertaken the refurbishing task in May with the aid of the Chicago Park District.
The Chicago native has always been close to his roots and spoke on the importance of such initiatives.
"Just coming back here, I know it means a lot not only to me but the community," Rose said. "If I was younger, I think it'd be cool for a guy who made it before me came back to show he appreciates us and didn't forget about us.
Every day, every time I play, they're the reason I play, this neighbourhood right here. This court is what brings everyone together"
Rose has come a long way from being just another kid playing at Murray Park. He burst onto the NBA scene a few years ago and even though people saw potential, no one could have predicted the season, he just had.
Derrick led the Chicago Bulls to the best record in the league, as well as the Eastern Conference Finals. For his efforts, the electrifying point guard was named the youngest ever winner of the NBA regular season MVP award.
