Derrick Rose playing hurt, Carlos Boozer progressing

Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose made a surprising revelation on Tuesday 9 November when he said that he is playing with a turf toe in his left big toe since last season,
although he is not sure how it was injured.

“I don't even know how you get turf toe,” Rose said. “I just know that my big toe hurts, and the Bulls medical staff said it was turf toe. You cannot bend your toe at all. I thought it was
jammed, but talking to the trainers, it was turf toe.”

According to the 2009 Rookie of the Year, he is a bit bothered by the toe injury, which he probably sustained during the gruelling play-off series against the Cleveland Cavaliers last season.
However, Rose reiterated that he will not let the injury cause him to miss any game this season.

“It's there forever now,” said Rose with a grin, when asked if he has plans of sitting out because of the injury. “My left big toe, it's there forever now so that's going to be an injury
I'm going to have for a long time.”

Rose, who is averaging 23.8 points and 9.2 assists per game for the Bulls this season, said that he knows that the injury could lead to a more serious one if he does not keep an eye on it.

On the other hand, all-star power-forward Carlos Boozer is progressing everyday and could be in shape earlier than expected, although the Bulls’ medical staff said that they are going to
be cautious in dealing with the injury.

Boozer, who was acquired by the Bulls as a free agent during the off-season, but has not suit up with the Bulls even in their pre-season games because of a broken hand, continues to participate
in their team practices, although the team is not allowing him to do shooting drills.

“His conditioning has really picked up,” said Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau. “He's going through dummy offense and things like that. He does close-outs, but there's no contact or anything
like that.”

The Bulls are coming off a huge hard-earned victory over Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets, 94-92, on Monday 8 November, and they will try to make it two straight when they host the
Golden State Warriors on Thursday 11 November.
