Derrick Rose relishing a return to Chicago Bulls – NBA Update
Chicago Bulls franchise player Derrick Rose is thrilled at the prospect finally adorning the Bulls jersey again after having to sit out months due to the NBA lockout.
During the lockout, Rose said he really missed the team training sessions and the company of his colleagues and coaches.
"I've really been lost without going up to the Berto," Rose told CSNChicago.com. "That's been the biggest thing. We're a family. It's kind of hard when you take a couple of months without talking to the people that (you're) with
so long, every single day, every practice.”
The NBA barred teams from contacting their players during the lockout and also stopped players from using team facilities.
Rose is one of the hardest working players in the league and his work ethic and enthusiasm inspired his teammates to raise their own levels last season, resulting in one of the best seasons for Chicago in recent history. He also
got into a rhythm with the Bulls and developed a very close understanding with his teammates.
He was therefore excited about getting everyone together again, probably on December 9th when the training camps are expected to begin, and believes there would be a lot of fun and laughter on the day.
"I know when we come back, there are going to be laughs, jokes and all that, but still we still have to take care of business." He said.
The player also revealed that he was especially waiting to get back to playing under head coach Tom Thibodeau, whom he was sure would be ready to drill the team into shape.
"Showtime," Rose told CSNChicago.com. "I hope it's exciting. I know (coach Tom Thibodeau) and the rest of the people are getting ready to coach us and we're prepared for it."
Rose and Thibodeau have become one of the most feared player-coach duos in the NBA. Thibodeau became head coach of Chicago just last season, after serving as the deputy to Doc Rivers at the Boston Celtics, and immediately hit it
off with Derrick.
Rose completely bought into Thibodeau’s philosophy and his team followed suit. The result was an incredibly successful year for all parties involved. The Chicago Bulls won 62 games in the regular season with Rose leading and Thibodeau
guiding.
Tom was awarded with the Coach of the Year award for his efforts while Rose became the youngest ever recipient of the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award. The team also reached the Eastern Conference Finals after more than a decade
and bowed out only to the star studded Miami Heat.
Rose and his teammates will be looking to go all the way this season.
