Derrick Rose says Chicago Bulls are in good shape – NBA Update
Current NBA regular season MVP Derrick Rose believes the Chicago Bulls are looking good and don’t need to add more pieces to the puzzle. The Bulls point guard was responding to a question suggesting that the Bulls needed to pick
up some free agents who could try and provide more depth to the side.
Rose had a barnstorming season last time out for the Chicago Bulls and became the youngest ever recipient of the MVP trophy. He led the Chicago Bulls to the league’s best record and the top finish in the Eastern Conference over
giants such as the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat.
The Bulls looked good in the playoffs as well, but came undone against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. Miami have the most talented trio in the world with their Big Three. The likes of LeBron James, Chris Bosh
and Dwyane Wade are a handful for even the best of teams. LeBron is a two time MVP award winner while Wade is a former NBA Finals MVP.
Those two alone make for a devastating attack. Miami came to the Conference Finals with a high morale after routing the Boston Celtics in the previous round. There three pronged attack was somewhat contained by Chicago’s tough
defence, but the Bulls fell apart on the other end.
Too much of the scoring burden was placed on the shoulders of Derrick Rose, with Carlos Boozer in particular failing to provide the support expected of him. The result was a loss for the Bulls in a season that had till that point
looked absolutely perfect.
Afterwards there were suggestions that Chicago perhaps lacked the depth and offensive acumen required to win an NBA World Championship. Various reports have linked them with free agents throughout the summer, but now Derrick Rose
has come out to say that the team doesn’t need any reinforcements.
Rose believes that the Bulls would be better for the experience next season and if they play to their potential, he doesn’t see any reason why they can’t be serious challengers for the NBA crown.
“We don’t need it right now. If we sign somebody that can definitely fit ... But to me I think that we are OK.”
Rose added, “If everyone comes in and work on their game, I think that we have a good shot of winning without getting anybody to come to my team. I think everything was just so new ... Last year was my first time getting past the
first round of the playoffs. Everything was just new to everybody, and that thing is gonna help us. Last year was the base for our team and the sky’s the limit for us.”
