Derrick Rose says he will be back; Asks fans to keep on supporting the Chicago Bulls – NBA Update
Ever since Derrick Rose tore an ACL in Game 1 of the first round of Eastern Conference playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers, there has been nothing but silence from the charismatic point guard, who has become the face of Chicago
Bulls.
That silence was broken on Friday night via a message posted on You Tube;
"Hopefully you'll see me back out there," Rose said in the video. "My biggest concern is don't worry about me. I know I'm going to be all right. I know that I'm healthy, I'm positive, I believe in God, so I should be back there
on the court soon, and I hope that you support not only me but the Bulls."
Rose had a surgery on May 12, and according to the rehab time (8 to 12 months) given by the doctors, he isn’t going to available for the Bulls, for at least the first two months of the next NBA season.
Although Reggie Rose, his agent and elder brother, and Dr. Brian Cole, who performed the surgery, recently indicated that Rose is recovering quickly, there is a very little chance of the Bulls hurrying their one guard back onto
the court.
That would mean that the supporting cast will have to carry the Bulls till that time, and keep them at a position from where Rose can take them into the playoffs. They did a pretty good job of that in the last regular season, winning
18 of the 27 games in which the guard was injured, but were exposed in the playoffs.
Then there is also a fact that most of role players on the Bulls bench have departed in the free agency. The Bulls have been strangely inactive in the free agency. Going after quality players is one thing, they did not even retain
some of their better options, the most prominent being Kyle Korver, who was traded to the Atlanta Hawks.
C.J. Watson, Ronnie Brewer and John Lucas III were free agents, but were not pursued and the franchise is also in a fix on whether to match the expected Houston Rockets offer sheet on backup centre Omer Asik. That offer is reportedly
worth $ 25 million for three years and once received the Bulls will have three days to match it.
Considering the scenario, it is no wonder that Rose has asked the fans to keep faith in the Bulls.
The franchise on its part has agreed to deals with guard Kirk Hinrich and forward Vladimir Radmanovic. Those deals are however yet to be announced officially.
