Derrick Rose starts cutting on his knee, on schedule with his rehab plan – NBA News
The Chicago Bulls fans can breathe another sign of relief as the Bulls All Star point guard and former regular season MVP Derrick Rose has started cutting on his knees as he continued to rehab from an ACL injury that he suffered
in the playoffs last season.
Rose, who tore the ACL in his left knee during game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round series against the Philadelphia 76ers, has been rehabbing ever since he underwent surgery on the tear on May 12th. He was initially
scheduled to be out for 8 to 12 months. The Bulls Head Coach, Tom Thibodeau, said that Rose is exactly where he should be in his rehab from the injury, and he still believes that he will be able to return before the end of the current season.
"It's the next step for him. Everything is going according to plan; he's not ahead of schedule, he's not behind schedule, he's exactly where he should be,” said Thibodeau before Monday night’s game against the Boston Celtics.
"He's doing great. You have to be patient with it. He's been very diligent, he's in every day. He's moving along. He started cutting, he's been shooting for a while now, he feels pretty good so we just have to be patient,” added
the Coach.
Thibodeau also said that Rose would probably meet the Bulls in Los Angeles later in the week when they embark on their annual “Circus Trip”. Rose has been working with personal training Rob McClanaghan in the Santa Monica area
over the summer. And it is expected that he will get a chance to meet his teammates when they travel to Los Angeles, although Thibodeau said that he did not want Rose getting distracted from his rehab, nor did he want Rose moving around with the team too much.
The Chicago Bulls have started the season with a 4-3 record in the absence of Rose. They are relying on a list of role players to hold the fort down and keep the Bulls alive and in playoff contention till the time the point guard
returns. So far in the season, Joakim Noah and Luol Deng have impressed as they have taken added responsibilities on their shoulders and are keeping the team competitive and afloat.
