Derwen Pryde expected to excel in the Odds With Corbett Sports Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at Ludlow
The Class 4 Best Odds With Corbett Sports Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle is to be held on Thursday, 1st March at Ludlow over three miles. The lineup of seven contestants will battle for the wire to get the £2, 924 purse.
Among the lineup, Derwen Pryde, Hazaaf’s eight-year-old bay mare out of mare Landsker Pryde, raced her 2012 seasonal debut after a long break. That race could not translate into victory but today it is being expected that she will win in case Derwen Pryde gets her grip back on the level of performance that she had been displaying previously.
She was fourth in the Dunraven Stud Mares’ Handicap Hurdle on 19th February at Ffos Las over two miles and six furlongs. The race was won by the 2/1 favourite, Cross The Flags while Al Shababiya was the runner up.
Her last two races of the 2011 season were victories.
She won the HFT Forklifts Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle on 21st November at Ludlow over three miles. The 11/8 favourite of the race, Mission Complete, finished the race closest to the winner on the field of eight.
On 30th November, Derwen Pryde won the Digibet.Com Handicap Hurdle at Uttoxeter. She made it to the wire by a mere head’s difference from the 7/4 favourite of the race, Another Miracle. Following third behind the winner was Acosta.
Vivarini, Hernando’s eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare Venetian Red, has already stamped his debut race of the new season.
Vivarini won the Grundfos Watermill Selling Handicap Hurdle on 23rd February at Lingfield over two miles and half furlong while riding with Josh Wall. He led the field of ten by eight lengths. Lady Bridget was the runner up of the race and was soon followed by Only Hope.
This victory came Vivarini’s way after losing a series of races. His connections would want him to attach more victories to what he has already achieved. The three miles’ distance suits Vivarini and makes the outcome somewhat certain as the eight-year-old is used to longer trips than this.
How favourable the break was for Derwen Pryde and how easy will be the three miles for Vivarini, is bound to unfold soon.
