French national team coach Didier Deschamps has revealed his concerns over the transfer of France captain and goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 from Lyon to Tottenham Hotspur.
The French manager admitted that he fears Lloris will not be given much playing time this season with the North London club due to the in-form veteran keeper Brad Friedel.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas expressed his delight over the performance of Friedel last weekend, where he made a series of excellent saves and helped his side stay in the game against Norwich City.
The manager praised the quality of the American keeper, and revealed that Lloris will have to prove his worth if he chooses to be selected in the starting line up. Despite signing Lloris as a long term replacement for the American, who is nearing retirement,
Lloris might not feature that often for Spurs this season.
The Portuguese manager said:
“When you transfer it's not written in the contract that you have to play. Lloris has to compete against three good goalkeepers and at the moment Brad is doing extremely well.”
"He deserves to be playing and he'll continue to do so."
The 25-year old French shot stopper signed for Spurs in a last minute deal that transpired on deadline day. The player put pen to paper in a deal worth £8 million and was the most attractive signing by the club. However, the player now faces competition
for a spot in the first team, and is understood not to be happy about this.
Lloris has the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlo-Cudicini-c8340 to compete with, and will be under immense pressure to deliver and impress the manager.
Deschamps revealed that he may be forced to consider his place in the France squad if Lloris is not given adequate playing time with Spurs. The French boss also said that Lloris was not happy with his situation at Spurs and Villas-Boas’s comments.
“I saw what Villas-Boas said. These statements surprised me.”
"I do not want http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899] and I hope that after it will go well for him."
