The former World Cup winner had initially said that he will honour his contract with the Rhone side but could possibly leave the Velodrome according to reports
Vincent Labrune’s presentation to DNCG succeeded with much difficulty. With a 30% budget cut, Les Phoceens will not be making huge waves in the transfer market this summer. Furthermore, a lot of players would be sold in order to cut down the payroll.
Now, Les Phoceens can start working on how they work on the transfer market.
And if the club decides to focus on youth, it would take some time to return to former glory. It is still unclear whether coach Didier Deschamps will stay at the club next season or not. Though the management is sure that the former Juventus manager will
stay at the helm, a good offer from any club could force him to change his mind.
Reports in 10 Sports claim that Saudi side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Al-Hilal-c38309 are very interested in the former World Cup winner.
The news gets better as the weekly published an interview with the club’s general manager Sami Al-Jaber.
The former glory of Saudi football admits that Didier Deschamps is one of many coaches he is looking at.
“Yes, that’s correct. He (DD) is one of the names that we are studying. We are looking for a coach like him with a great character. As has been the case in the past with Eric Gerets, Didier Deschamps is a coach who interests us, he might take us to the next
level.”
However, Al-Jaber says that no concrete action has been taken yet.
“Not yet. We have no open discussions with Deschamps because we treat cases one by one. But it’s true that Deschamps interests us and we could turn to him,” Jaber confessed.
With so many potential exits, Didier Deschamps would certainly not be against the idea of jumping ship this summer.
Furthermore, the financial aspects would also play a big role in where DD ends this summer. Marseille are burdened with debts while Al-Hilal have the resources to satisfy Deschamps’ demands.
So, the Frenchman will leave if the option is right.
